Heads of the Valley Spring Clean
Young people from the village joined forces with Hub youth workers, groundwork
officers, safety officers & local police officers to make Deri a cleaner and safer
place to live.
Working in teams, the enthusiastic group collected litter from the centre of the village, separating recyclable items and general rubbish. The young people were shocked
at how much rubbish there is in the village at would urge everyone to use the bins provided.
Following the litter pick the young people were given the opportunity to view the insects
that live in the river that runs through Deri. John from Keep Wales Tidy explained that the presence of these insects meant that the water quality was good and encouraged the young people to maintain the cleanliness standards.
The young people were rewarded for their hard work with a trip to Bowlplex. The
activity was kindly funded by the area crime prevention panel.Contact: Amy Holifield
